How the leaderboard is built — updated September 25, 2026.
What “YTD return” means here
YTD return = latest closing price ÷ December 31, 2025 closing price − 1, × 100. US markets were closed on January 1, 2026, so the December 31, 2025 close is the baseline. A stock that closed at $100 on December 31, 2025 and trades at $150 today has a +50% YTD return. Prices are adjusted for stock splits and dividends.
Asset universe
The ranking covers every S&P 500 constituent — currently 503 stocks, including class-share listings. Spin-offs and other 2026 additions without a December 31, 2025 price are marked unavailable rather than ranked.
Data sources
Daily closing prices come from Yahoo Finance. Index-level figures use the S&P 500 benchmark computed from the same data.
Update schedule
The leaderboard is rebuilt every weekday morning with the latest closing prices, so the ranking always reflects the most recent trading day.
Limitations
Figures are computed from third-party data and can contain errors; always verify before acting on them. Everything on this site is for informational purposes only and is not financial advice.
